Lynyrd Skynyrd – That Smell

This performance of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing “That Smell” was recorded 3 months and 7 days before the iconic southern rock band’s airplane crash in 1977.  The sound quality is excellent however it was recorded in the standard 4-3 video resolution that was standard in the 1970’s.

We found a great Youtube video to show our guitar players the chords to this great Lynyrd Skynyrd classic song That Smell.  Then if you are interested in learning more here is another video on how to play the intro solo to That Smell.  Finally here is a direct link to a very solid guitar tab for all the lead work in That Smell.  Enjoy the song!

That Smell-Lynyrd Skynyrd-Lyrics

Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you’re in my way
There’s too much coke and too much smoke
Look what’s going on inside you

Ooooh that smell
Can’t you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

Angel of darkness is upon you
Stuck a needle in your arm
So take another toke, have a blow for your nose
And one more drink fool, will drown you

Ooooh that smell
Can’t you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

Now they call you Prince Charming
Can’t speak a word when you’re full of ‘ludes
Say you’ll be all right come tomorrow
But tomorrow might not be here for you

Ooooh that smell
Can’t you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

When we originally made this post we wrote the live recording above was made seven days before the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash.  We have since learned that was incorrect.  The correct information is 3 months and 7 days.
